Every year at about this time, our girls start telling us that it's time to go clean-up the garbage along the road in front of our property. It's a fairly long stretch of busy road, and being out in the middle of nowhere, drivers tend to be on their worst behaviour. We've found all manner of things in the past (my favourite was a high heel shoe, a stiletto high heel no less).
By far the most common thing we find is empty (or full!) alcohol containers. We pulled 3 garbage bags worth of stuff out of the ditch this year, and much of it was beer cans and bottles. It's somewhat hard to believe that in 2010 so many people are literally drinking and driving. But the ditch never lies.
